We would recommend staying with Windows XP Professional when purchasing a new computer. When ordering new computers you will have to request Windows XP Professional or the manufacture will load Windows Vista by default.

This product is new to everyone, including all of your hardware and software manufacturers. We caution our customers against upgrading to this new operating system without evaluating its impact on all business-critical software and hardware. Technology professionals recommend waiting to migrate to new technology for business critical software and systems until a stable version is available. Most new software applications have multiple updates within the first few months of release.

In a business environment, particularly one involving a network, Windows Vista Business Version will be supported by Prophesy. This version has been designed specifically for business use and will be tested for compatibility.
7. I bought a computer and received a coupon to upgrade to Windows Vista. What should I do?
You should continue running Windows XP for now. If you wish, you can redeem the coupon and obtain Windows Vista Business, but we do not recommend performing the update at this time.
8. How do I find out which operating system I have?
Go to your computer's desktop. Using the right button on your mouse, click on "My Computer." Choose "Properties" and then the "General" tab on the window that opens. The operating system should be listed under "System." Common examples of operating systems are Windows XP and Windows 2000.
9. Will Prophesy work with all Windows Vista versions?
We recommend Windows Vista Business Version. This version has been designed specifically for business use and is being tested for compatibility.
10. Does my current Prophesy Application work with Windows Vista?
The latest Prophesy products (version numbers shown below) will now run on Windows Vista Business and Windows Vista Ultimate. User Access Control (UAC) must be turned off to install and run these products. If you are using Prophesy QuickBooks Interface you will need to run the interface from a Windows XP machine.

Check your own versions against this list to ensure that you are using these versions or later:
