J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. Chooses LoadExpress Plus

Tuesday, June 30, 1998

Bloomfield, CT - June 30, 1998 -- J. B. Hunt Transport, Inc, one of America’s foremost diversified transport and logistics companies, has implemented Prophesy LoadExpress Plus™ for Windows® software at sites in Norcross, Georgia and Lowell, Arkansas with plans to implement at additional sites in the next three to six months. LoadExpress Plus is an automatic load building, planning and routing system for optimizing routes, scheduling deliveries, and analyzing distribution patterns.

LoadExpress Plus was selected after extensive evaluation of available products to augment load-building software already on site at each J. B. Hunt location. In three separate test evaluations, from simple to complex, the Prophesy product outperformed the competition in speed of solution delivery without violation of time requirements, DOT requirements and other performance criteria. Solutions were delivered in spontaneous online operation on command, according to Kevin L. Pasternack, Manager of Midwest Sales for Prophesy Transportation Software, Inc. Selection of the provider was based on equal parts performance, ease of use and value, according to Drew Watson, Director of Systems Technology for J. B. Hunt.

"The deciding factor was the accuracy of the load building and routing performance," stated Watson, "the product is Windows-based, very easy to use, and priced right."

Easy user interface allows "expedited analysis," added Nick Gowen, Optimization Engineer for J. B. Hunt, who is actively involved in benchmarking and testing. He reported "consistently accurate routing better than 95% of the time" adding that route editing "is so easy that the other 5% is no problem at all."

LoadExpress Plus is easy-to-use technology that instantly calculates factors to make human judgment effortless and much more accurate. By instantaneously calculating various combinations and information, the software helps load planners to consider a multitude of options to build the most cost effective loads.

"The software sees combinations of opportunities that are virtually impossible to calculate without this kind of technology," stated Pasternack, "It quickly provides rational data that must otherwise be laboriously collected, using up valuable human resources."

Planners then apply their knowledge and experience to manipulate the data provided by the software to revise schedules, provide for drivers, meet customer requirements, and factor in last-minute changes or additions. They can do so with reassurance that every ramification of each change is automatically considered and addressed by the software. Since its introduction in 1996, the product has been constantly upgraded in response to user input and onsite performance review.

Designed for private fleets, contract fleets, public trucking companies, brokers, freight consolidators and forwarders, as well as third party logistics firms, LoadExpress Plus interfaces readily with existing applications. Creating the most cost-effective routes has made the product particularly popular with companies with diverse routing patterns that need automatic consolidation. It is also valued as an analytical tool for periodic evaluations of current distribution trends.

Since 1984, Prophesy Transportation Software (formerly Information Software, Inc.) has been a leading publisher and provider of software systems for the transportation and distribution industries. Today, over 17,500 companies across North America rely on Prophesy transportation and logistics software products.
