Bloomfield, CT - October 1, 1997 -- The software publishing
company formerly known as Information Software, Inc. has been renamed Prophesy
Transportation Software, Inc., it was announced today.
"Since this company was founded in 1984," said Edward J. Forman, Prophesy
president and CEO, "we've built our reputation for excellence by publishing and
providing software to solve critical transportation and distribution issues.
That hasn't changed--that's our ongoing mission. What has changed is our whole
approach to our market. Is it working? Well, four years ago, we had a customer
base of about 5,000. Today, it's triple that and still on a steep upward growth
curve, so it appears we're on the right track."
"The company has grown and evolved very rapidly over the past few years," Mr.
Forman continued, "and we wanted the name to say more about the focus of our
business today. We've built a strong recognition of the name 'Prophesy' over
the years and it's become associated with the idea of product quality.
Obviously, we wanted to hold onto that. And making the word 'Transportation'
part of the company's name helps emphasize that our sole business and primary
focus is--and always has been--to solve transportation-related problems."
"Four years ago," he went on, "the whole Prophesy product line was a half dozen
products, mostly mileage-oriented, and all in the DOS environment. That gave us
a good, strong core product as a solid base, but we were pretty narrowly
focused. We decided our product line should be broadened to include additional,
related transportation and distribution functions, and we made a commitment to
do that. It was pretty clear to us that Windows was becoming the platform of
choice for the transportation industry. We saw an opportunity there, and we
began the process of providing a comprehensive suite of Windows solutions."
"Using a Windows environment," Forman continued, "fit in with our strategy of
using a modular approach in expanding our product line. Our goal was to develop
a 'total systems solution' for the transportation and distribution industry,
comprised of individual products that would be able to 'talk to each other'.
Each product would be state-of-the-art and easy to use. And each would be
designed to serve either as a stand-alone offering or as an integrated part of
a total solution that could grow along with a business. If a customer needed
only one of our products, fine. But, using Windows, once a customer learned how
to use one product, if he decided he needed one or more of the others, adding
and using them would be very easy for him."
"That's what we've been developing over the last four years," said Forman, "and
today we offer mileage, tax, log, vehicle maintenance, load-building, rating,
and third-party rating sytems. These and all the other products we have under
development reflect this same philosophy of easy integration. So now we have a
company very different from what it was, with a very different product mix,
aimed at several related aspects of the transportation and distribution
industry. With over twenty individual products in the line, our Prophesy series
is the most comprehensive suite of transportation-oriented software for Windows
available. We think we're positioned well. To put it simply, if you're in
transportation and distribution and you're looking for Windows-based solutions,
we're the ones to call."
