Another great way to save on fuel costs for Prophesy Mileage & Routing users is to set your trips to be routed "by distance" rather than "by time", reducing the number of miles traveled and consequently reducing fuel consumption. Take, for example, a trip from Birmingham, AL, to Jacksonville, FL. Routing "by time" (least amount of travel time), you will get a result of approximately 500 miles in 8 hours. However, when running this same trip "by distance" (fewest number of miles traveled) the travel time is only increased by about one hour but the trip is completed in only 400 miles. Considering today's diesel prices this can be an appealing option to many business owners.

Prophesy to Offer TrackerSeries on Sprint® Network
Prophesy has expanded its GPS Tracking and Mobile Communications services to include coverage within the Sprint® network. This network uses CDMA technology, allowing seamless voice and data roaming to other major CDMA networks such as Alltel® and Verizon®, enlarging the coverage area. This new option is available to all Prophesy TrackerSeries users and will appeal particularly to those who frequently travel in areas not currently covered by Nextel's iDEN network.
Prophesy TrackerSeries currently runs on the Sprint/Sanyo® 7050 model handset. The Sanyo 7050 was chosen for its rugged design (meets Military Specification 810F; certified for dust, shock, and vibration), GPS capability, and field reliability. Other handset models will be added as they become available from Sprint.

Notes from the Training Team
Simple ways we can help!

One thing that is common for new users is that they feel overwhelmed with all that the software can do. On their own, they try to absorb everything at once, rather than focusing on the things they'll need the most first, and then letting everything else fall into place.
As a dedicated Prophesy consultant, I help them sort through the way they do business and determine which processes are most important for their unique operation. Then, we make a short checklist of things to do before the target "go live" date. During training, we focus on the items on that checklist and briefly touch on the other benefits of the software, keeping in mind that we will train in more detail on those things when needed.
For example, most customers I work with are full TL operations. In that case, I let them know the software has the functionality available to handle LTL type shipments and quotations, but spend time on getting them proficient in entering the daily truck loads. Once they've had the opportunity to learn and use the Booking screens to build full truck loads, the Load Planner and shipment processing is easy.
I've also found that the users who forge ahead before training, often skip setting up rate schedules. But truly, rate schedules save a tremendous amount of time in billing and payroll calculations and can also be helpful in providing revenue per mile reports. I always walk users through this step by step, because once they're created, one click of a button on the Booking screen will pull up your standard customer's charges, including stop fees, fuel surcharges, and anything else you regularly put on your invoices.
It is always rewarding to share these tips with our users, and then watch as they realize the time savings involved.

Ask the Tech Team
Today we will cover a brand new Dispatch feature: the ability to temporarily change the logo on an invoice, settlement, or report right within the preview window in Dispatch. This allows you to use a logo that is different from your primary company logo without the need to copy a new logo file into your Dispatch program folder. Here's how!
Note that when you select a logo in this manner it will be used for this session only. Once you close and rerun the document or run a different one, the primary company logo will appear again.
